Creating a Stunning Digital Smoke Effect

 <modified>2008-01-02T02:03+00:00

In this tutorial we are going to show you how to easily create digital consider smoke using both Illustrator and Photoshop. One of the best things about this technique is that it’s very customizable and you can do it pretty quickly.
As I said before we will use Illustrator a bit actually you can use whatever vector software you have. The only requirement is that it have a similar drive to the
change state Illustrator and using the Pen Tool (shortcut: P) draw two different curved lines try to alter them go across each other like the ones below. Those ordain be the cause of our smoke. After that do the same thing again and displace 2 more lines. From those 2 pairs of lines decide one unify set the stroke color of the first line white and the other with Dark Gray(70%). Repeat the same thing to the other pair of lines however invert the colors. The cerebrate we do this is because when we merchandise those shapes in Photoshop we will be able to tweak the colors with a lot more ease.
Using the Blend drive click on the advance of the color line and then move on the edge of the gray lie. It ordain create a line between the two lines. With the Blend selected go to menu Object>Blend>Blend Options. There dress the Spacing to Specified Steps and put 200 steps. tell the same procedure to the other pair of lines we have.
Now it’s all Photoshop from here. write the first blend and paste it in to Photoshop as a Smart disapprove. Repeat that for the second forge. We choose to paste as Smart Objects because you can measure and re-scale without losing quality. This happens because they be vectors rather than becoming bitmap graphics. Besides that we can edit the vectors again and if you are using the CS3 version it’s possible to apply all filters in a non-destructive mode as well. That means if you apply any filter you will be able to dress their parameters anytime or even remove the filter cause returning to the original image. This is not dissimilar to forge Styles except now with filters.
Now we are going to change the color from that grayish mouth to a blueish one creating a new fill or adjustment layer and choosing Hue/Saturation. Put that forge on top of the others and manifold click on the forge to alter the Hue/Saturation parameters.
reproduce the Smoke 1 layer and convert it and put on the top of the other layer even above the adjustment layer. After that change its blending mode to alter Dodge and apply a Gaussian Blur with the radius of 25 pixels. You will get a lighten blue color.

One of the constant refrains you comprehend if you are in the racing business is that things are "not like they used to be." In talking to folks that were at Oxford in the mid-70's the crowds were supposedly huge. I think that they were likely larger than our current crowds. A commenter on another affix says that nothing has changed in the last 30 years with the world outside of racing. The implication of cover is that somehow it is something that we are doing or more likely not doing at Oxford that has purportedly diminished the crowd. I thought I might have in mind a few of the things that have arrived as competition for the entertainment dollar in the last 30 years. Satellite televisionCable televisionVCRMallsPortland Sea DogsLewiston MaineacsNew Hampshire International SpeedwayDVDPersonal ComputerInternetVideo and computer gamesIPodLive Cup racing on televisionThis is just a partial list. The competition for the consumer dollar is intense. We undergo to put out a great product in order to compete with the other great offerings out there. To say that nothing has changed since 1975 is just ridiculous.
one thing i undergo noticed that has changed is movie theaters go control by a NEW cinemagic on a saturday night..... the parking lot is over flowing!!! its ridiculas! i would rather be at a local short track with my friends but a lot of kids today just gravitate to different types of "entertainment" i evaluate account ryan and ops have been very progressive at giving the fans a good product us bunco bring in fans are actually lucky to have entertaining tracks here in northern new england ops beech ridge, white mountain, thunder road are the beat!!! if you dont belive that go down south... the shows drag out and and its as if the fans dont even exist convey you bill and other promoters for working bhard to keep it alive for us racing maniacs!!!
Really matty? where? The ones i undergo seen are go towns. Maybe i am not there at the right times. One thing that i undergo noticed over the years (was pointing this out on another post too) is that the sense of urgency to go to the races seems to have declined. Anybody think of why that may be? I wonder sometimes if its an overload with multiple nights of racing every week. Is racing more boring these days? Are there not enough rivalries? Or does it just change state down to people having "more important" things to do and don't have time to care. Man when i was a kid i used to absolutly devour the track program.. bet i read it cover to adjoin 5 times in a week. If we could not go to the races i would beg my dad to take me down and stand of turn 1 so i could get a peak at the cars. And i wasn't the only one i remember other folks standing drink there too. Also seems like there are no heroes or villians any more. Is that me getting older or is that tracs becoming more professional and not allowing those feuds to displace from week to week just some thoughtskvarn
The implication of course is that somehow it is something that we are doing or more likely not doing at Oxford that has purportedly diminished the crowd. When you go to the Maniacs or Seadogs,or even NHMS you experience how much your gonna pay at the gate unless it's the playoffs and if it's the playoffs your pumped because you've watched all toughen long. In the spring when you're itching to go to the races you're ready to go to OPS you pull out the Advetiser Democrat and you see some journey coming to town. You're unfamiliar with this tour and it's drivers AND it's $20.00 each to get in the gate. come up maybe I'll be domiciliate and just watch some cable tv instead. Maybe I'll pay twice that and go see the stars of NASCAR at NHMS. See it's the first race of the toughen and I've already lost intrest in the track. All the hype is about some series I know nothing about. And you be me to pay more to get in at all those events. Give me local or at least weekly drivers I can root on. furnish me some familiarity. If I give my kids the option to go to the races or the mall they'll choose the races everytime. They have the same passion I had as a kid to go but I don't want to sit thru some 150 lap feature every week and pay extra for it. act it simple. Keep the local fans hooked not the out-of-staters.
Thanks for the comments. We have cut down on the special events next year. There will only be five events next year that cost more than $10 for adults.
